To find out more about the achievements of Beck Hansen you can google him and see that the singer has plenty of fans who love his music and style which fits in the folk music category. So why is Kanye West upset? Well lets just say, that he is passionate about Beyonce and any artist who wins an award that the "single ladies" performer is nominated for should just give up their trophy. Remember Taylor Swift? back in 2009 for the MTV Music Awards. It seems as if history has repeated itself, now it is Beck who is at the ranting of Kanye West who seems to think that Beyonce is the only "real artist" in the music industry. Even with all the controversy following the winning of Beck for Album of the Year many have noted that the Grammys is always picking unknown performers and often does things outside of what many perceive as shocking. |

Now that Kanye west has made a spectacle of himself it has allowed those who were not familiar with Becks music to give it a listen. Almost true to form when Taylor Swift was also embarrassed by Kanye West crazy behavior she is now one of the top selling music artists on the planet. Thank You Kanye, you are creating buzz and giving these little known artists a platform to build a top selling career. Beck wins Best Rock Album for Morning Phase | |
Beck is seen as a independent artist who writes his own songs, produces his own music and has been innovative in his musical style since the early 1990's. The Grammys showed that popularity is not always what wins awards. Quality music sometimes has a chance in this world of fast food lyrics and bubblegum songs. Many may not consider Beck as a rock musician because most of his sound is mellow and what I would call "easy listening". Interestingly it has been noted that Beck's nomination was right along with other artist such as Tom Petty, U2 and Ryan Adams whose sound is closer to alternative rock or country music. I would say that 20 years in the business is a long time and I guess you can say Beck is receiving his due in getting the attention he should for being a creative artist. Rollingstones magazine has done a review of the album "morning phase" and this is what they have said: It is like a folk rock classic with lots of orchestral experiments and with the musical storytelling of how to push past terrible times.
